Sir Cakeworthy agrees that top hats make everything extra fancy. Here’s a little top hat pattern to dress up your amigurumi.
- Worsted Weight Yarn
- 3.5 mm crochet hook
Instructions (work in continuous spirals unless stated otherwise):
- Make magic loop, work 6 sc in loop (6 sts)
- 2 sc in each st around (12 sts)
- 1 sc, 2 sc inc, around (18 sts)
- 2 sc, 2 sc inc, around (24 sts)
- Through the back loop, sc around, join with a sl st, ch 1
- 1 sc, 2sctog, around
- Next 4 rows, sc around
- sl st, ch 1, 2sc inc around
- sl st, finish off
I would love the pattern for the mustache!! ❤ very cute!
What an absolutely smashing top hat you have there my good man! Tally Ho!
(I say, I do wish my own top hat was as spiffing as that)

OOPS – Found a typo on row 5 of the pattern (now corrected on post) – last instruction was for “1 sc” – that should have been ” ch 1″. Sorry if that messed anyone up.
Thanks for the pattern. I’m confused about row 4: 2 sc, 2 sc inc around (24 sts) I’m lost. what does it mean? I thought maybe you meant exactly as row 3 (1 sc, 2 sc inc) but that will be 27 sts not 24. and if it means 2 sc in each sc around that also won’t equal 24 sts but 36. Please help?
Hi Zahra – Sorry for the confusion, I’m new to pattern writing and it’s a challenge to explain some details. That row means to do 2 sc (each in their own stitch) and then in the next/third stitch, do 2sc in the same stitch thus making an increase. So, another way to write that would be: 1 sc, 1 sc, 2sc in the same stitch, and repeat across the row. I hope that’s more clear. If not, let me know and I’ll try again! =) ~Kristen
